Acpuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into the skin to stimulate specific areas of the body. Acupuncture is based on the traditional Chinese teaching that energy courses through the body along channels called meridians; illness occurs when that flow is disrupted. Considered an original holistic medicine, it has been in use for over 3,000 years.

Acupuncture is a harmless procedure when administered properly by a Licensed Doctor of Acupuncture. To be effective, a series of treatments is required. The number of treatments depends on many factors, such as the severity of the condition, length of time the condition has existed, general health of the patient, age of the patient, and the patient’s diet and habits.

The mainstream medical industry is starting to identify some of the physiological mechanisms at work, and there’s evidence that the insertion of needles into designated acupuncture points speeds the conduction of electromagnetic signals within the body. These signals increase the flow of endorphins and other pain-relieving chemicals, as well as immune system stimulation, which aids healing.

Many of the health problems and conditions that can be helped:

Pain
Stress-related disorders
Depression
Headaches
Arthritis
Fatigue
Auto-Immune Diseases
Herniated Disc
Backaches and Neck Pains
Infertility & Menstrual Disorders
Ulcers, Colitis, and other digestive disorders
Chemotherapy and Radiation side-effects

And many other conditions including weight loss, and used as an effective treatment to stop smoking. Acupuncture treatment can also increase white blood cells and antibodies, which can increase the body’s resistance to infections.
